Featuring the X-Rated D.A. Billed as "A ravishing All-American Dream" and a "Three Ring Circus of Flesh" 1973's Lecher follows a shallow and hedonistic playboy who justifies his lecherous actions to the audience while he pursues his sexual conquests with a variety of girls, much like an X- rated version of the 1966 film Alfie. Lecher has gained some notoriety as of late since the main actor,Guy Thomas (credited here as Robert Bell), has since gone on to a successful career as a District Attorney. While it may appear scandalous 40+ years after the fact, it should be recognized that this movie was made in the era of "Porno Chic," at a time when X-rated films were shown in maintstream theaters and openly viewed by mainstream celebrities, actors, politicians and the like. We have seen several actors from this period go on to successful mainstream careers such as Sylvester Stallone, Spalding Gray, Sonny Landham and Kristine Debell. Lecher had a successful 8 week run at a theater located on Broadway in NYC. But, Mr. Bell was not as successful as he hoped he would be, so, he went back to college, got a law degree and became a success in another field. Admirable for sure, but not the least bit scandalous.
